Do I need to connect my bank?
No, and Qashly never asks for your online banking login. Add transactions with the + button, by voice, in chat, by photographing a receipt, or by importing a CSV your bank already lets you export — Qashly maps the columns, catches duplicates, and shows you everything before it saves. Direct bank connections are on the roadmap, and will be optional.
Does Qashly work offline?
Yes. Qashly is offline-first: all of your financial data lives on your device and every core feature works with no connection at all, including the entire tax engine. Only the AI, live investment prices, exchange rates and sending us feedback need the internet.
Where is my data — and what if I lose my phone?
In a database on your phone. There is no Qashly account and no server copy of your finances — nothing to breach, and nothing to sign into. The trade-off is real, so we'll say it: your phone is where the data is. Lock the app with a PIN and Face ID or fingerprint — a recovery code covers a forgotten PIN — and back your phone up as you normally would. Cloud backup and sync are on the roadmap.
What does the AI actually see?
Only what a request needs. The relevant transactions, budget or tool data are sent from your phone to OpenAI for that one request and are not used to train models. Never use the AI, and your finances stay on the phone entirely.
Can the AI make a mess of my books?
Not one you can't reverse. Every AI action lands in a feed with one-tap undo, and the assistant is walled off from your PIN, your security settings and any bank login — because there isn't one. It acts on what you named, and nothing else.
Is the free version actually usable?
Yes — it's a working budgeting app, not a demo. One project, two wallets, three tags, one of each tool, 100 transactions a month, budgets and the full UK tax engine. The AI taster is 10 chat messages, 3 minutes of voice and 3 receipt scans — lifetime allowances rather than monthly, so spend them on real questions.
How accurate is the UK tax tool?
It covers the 2025/26 tax year across employment, self-employment, rental, savings and dividends, including Scottish bands, the personal allowance taper, National Insurance and every student loan plan — with a Self Assessment estimate and payments on account. It's an estimate, not tax advice, and it runs entirely offline.
What do Premium and Pro cost?
Premium is £6.99 a month or £49.99 a year — both start with a 3-day free trial — or £99.99 once for lifetime. Pro is £9.99 a month, £99.99 a year or £149.99 lifetime, with higher tool and AI limits. Prices in other regions follow your app store.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and Android. There's no iPad version and no web app.
There's more in the box — 53 kinds of notification, CSV import with column mapping,
eight app icons, streaks to 365 days.
